New adventure.
This morning Luke and I built Lego towers. After breakfast we read some and then went to a park on the other side of town. It had a playground and hiking trails, but best of all was a track for remote controlled cars. Nobody was there when we arrived, but shortly several people showed up. Luke loved watching the cars. Next we went to the farmers market before returning home for lunch. I took a nap afterwards then hauled trash to the dump. Dinner and bed time went well.
More flooring.
This morning I got to the job site about 7:30 and focused on the flooring in the second bedroom. I finished it plus the closet, then wrapped up the last of the first bedroom as well. I also moved a lot of dirt to the driveway. Hunter came and painted some more, and my neighbor Bill stopped by for a tour. I worked until nearly dark then went to the cottage to pack and clean up. I had dinner on campus then drove home via Tullahoma. Unfortunately Luke was asleep when I arrived.
Flooring and more.
This morning I took Luke to school. Gas was $3.99 a gallon in Franklin. I returned home then went to physical therapy before driving to the Mountain. There I focused on putting down flooring in the first bedroom and made good progress. I worked until nearly dark. Hunter also came and painted some more. Back at the cottage I was relaxing on the sofa and thinking about dinner when John called. We talked for nearly three hours. It was almost ten when we finished and Piggly Wiggly was closed. Dollar General apparently closed a few minutes early. Fortunately CVS was open and I got a few things there. Now it is pushing midnight and I am pretty tired.
Mud, flooring, and home.
This morning I scooped more mud out of the driveway and hauled it off. Next I started putting down laminate in the front bedroom. That started off a bit frustrating but improved once I got in the groove. I did that until my rubber mallet broke. Then I put underlayment down in the second bedroom. I went to the Goat Market for a late lunch and saw Dan and Eric there. After stopping at the cottage to pick up a few things I drove home via Lynchburg. Luke was happy to see me and we built lineups until dinner, and also chatted with my parents. Liz is putting him to bed now.
Active and somewhat productive day.
I got a relatively early start this morning. I started off by using my new battery powered chainsaw to cut up some trees, and then I hauled them to the burn pile. Mid morning some geologists came to observe my dad’s property next door and so I traipsed about with them for a couple of hours. I had lunch at the Goat Market afterwards and chatted with Eric for a bit. Then I worked on clearing again until nearly dark. Hunter came and painted the porches for a bit. I did also install a mirror in the half bath. For dinner I ate the remainder of my pizza. Tonight I’m reading a Wendell Berry book I started last night.
Back to work.
After therapy I returned home and hooked up my trailer, then went to Chapel Hill to pick up my cedar. At the cottage I unhooked my trailer and then went to the job site. I unboxed the appliances and hauled the cardboard to the dump. I started draining the moat out front by digging a little diversion trench. Next I hauled away a lot of tree debris so the excavator can install the septic system. Eric and his son stopped by and we chatted for a bit before I finished up. I stopped at Piggly Wiggly for some food and have just been relaxing since.
Recovery day.
This morning we went to Home Depot. Luke had green poop for most of the day from eating nasty cupcakes at the birthday party yesterday.
Party hearty times two.
It was a pretty low key morning. We mostly put together puzzles. Later we took Luke to the doctor because he’s been coughing a lot and we wanted to make sure he was okay before taking him to two birthday parties this afternoon. She gave him the all clear and said that sometimes the cough can linger for three to four weeks after being sick. Back at the house we had a later than usual lunch and then Liz and Luke went to the parties for two of his classmates in Cool Springs. I took trash to the dump, bought a mirror at Home Depot, and some cinnamon rolls at Food Lion. Back at the house I just relaxed until they returned. Luke was pretty fired up and had lots of party favors to show me. We had dinner really late but the bed time routine went well.
Cold and wet.
I struggled to get going this morning on account of the nasty weather. It was that damp cold that is so miserable. Eventually I got going and went to the job site where I got a load of trash and hauled it to the dump. I returned and got another load, which I will take to the Columbia dump tomorrow. I returned some glue to the lumberyard and then did some organizing at the cottage. Next I went to Debbie’s for a chat then stopped at the Goat Market for a snack. Finally I returned to the cottage to hook up my trailer then drove home. Luke and I played until dinner time, then we cleaned up. Liz is putting him to bed now.
Unexpected Luke day.
This morning Luke woke up with a bit of a cough, so Liz didn’t want him going to school. We played until I went to physical therapy, which was pretty good, then we played some more until Liz got off work a little before three. I drove up to the Mountain and stopped to see Debbie for about an hour. Then I went to Piggly Wiggly for some food and have just been relaxing here at the cottage.
