2025 book 10.
This one was interesting, although a bit disappointing. Nevil Shute is one of my favorite novelists, who also happened to be a very successful engineer and businessman. Unfortunately this book deals with the latter two facets of his life. I definitely enjoyed the narrative but wish that he would have talked more about being a writer and what that entailed. He also didn’t talk much about his life outside of work. I still enjoyed the glimpse into English life from around 100 years ago though.

Snow day!
Luke’s school actually canceled yesterday afternoon before a single flake had fallen. We probably got about two inches overnight. It is pretty, and not many folks are on the road. We’ve got a fire going and Luke is looking forward to sledding.

Treehouse progress – almost finished!
On Thursday after school Luke and I drove up to Monteagle. My dad was up there and we went to dinner at the Mountain Goat Market. We talked with Eric a bit and enjoyed some tasty pizza. On Friday morning we started working on the treehouse. It was cold but not miserable. My mother came up as well. We spent just about all day working. Now we just lack a few things – caulking some holes, hinges for one door, and boards for the bottom bunk and a ladder. I have all of these things at home. Luke and I went to the campus dining hall for dinner. This morning we hung out a little, then walked on the Mountain Goat Trail with my mother. We drove down to Shelbyville and had lunch with her before continuing home.

2025 book 9.
This was another entertaining book in the Genghis Khan series. I’m excited to still have two more to go.

2025 book 8.
The is the second book in a series of five. I read the first last year. I bit the bullet and ordered the remaining four off Thrift Books last week. They are highly entertaining and I feel very informative. Can’t wait to start the next one this evening.

2025 book 7.
This was quite interesting, but a little preachy at times. It was very informative though.

2025 book 6.
This was a quick read, less than an hour, that felt very inspiring and informative. I will probably try to read it again this week so that the lessons better sink in.

2025 book 5.
This was an interesting book. I’m pretty fascinated by Louisiana and this is set in Monroe, unlike most novels of the state which seem to favor the New Orleans area. I can’t say that it was great, it felt a bit cliched at times, but it kept me entertained for a few nights.

2024 book 4.
It was a pretty good one. I like Teddy Roosevelt and the Northwest, so this was enjoyable.

2025 book 3.
This one is a re-read. I can’t remember how long ago I originally read it, but enough time had elapsed for me to have forgotten most everything about it except for the basic premise. It only took three before bedtime reading sessions to get through, so I appreciated that. The book provided an interesting insight into the extreme upper classes of English culture during the first half of the twentieth century. The narrator was a mostly sympathetic if rather alien character.
