Mud, flooring, and home.

This morning I scooped more mud out of the driveway and hauled it off. Next I started putting down laminate in the front bedroom. That started off a bit frustrating but improved once I got in the groove. I did that until my rubber mallet broke. Then I put underlayment down in the second bedroom. I went to the Goat Market for a late lunch and saw Dan and Eric there. After stopping at the cottage to pick up a few things I drove home via Lynchburg. Luke was happy to see me and we built lineups until dinner, and also chatted with my parents. Liz is putting him to bed now.

Active and somewhat productive day.

I got a relatively early start this morning. I started off by using my new battery powered chainsaw to cut up some trees, and then I hauled them to the burn pile. Mid morning some geologists came to observe my dad’s property next door and so I traipsed about with them for a couple of hours. I had lunch at the Goat Market afterwards and chatted with Eric for a bit. Then I worked on clearing again until nearly dark. Hunter came and painted the porches for a bit. I did also install a mirror in the half bath. For dinner I ate the remainder of my pizza. Tonight I’m reading a Wendell Berry book I started last night.

Back to work.

After therapy I returned home and hooked up my trailer, then went to Chapel Hill to pick up my cedar. At the cottage I unhooked my trailer and then went to the job site. I unboxed the appliances and hauled the cardboard to the dump. I started draining the moat out front by digging a little diversion trench. Next I hauled away a lot of tree debris so the excavator can install the septic system. Eric and his son stopped by and we chatted for a bit before I finished up. I stopped at Piggly Wiggly for some food and have just been relaxing since.

Party hearty times two.

It was a pretty low key morning. We mostly put together puzzles. Later we took Luke to the doctor because he’s been coughing a lot and we wanted to make sure he was okay before taking him to two birthday parties this afternoon. She gave him the all clear and said that sometimes the cough can linger for three to four weeks after being sick. Back at the house we had a later than usual lunch and then Liz and Luke went to the parties for two of his classmates in Cool Springs. I took trash to the dump, bought a mirror at Home Depot, and some cinnamon rolls at Food Lion. Back at the house I just relaxed until they returned. Luke was pretty fired up and had lots of party favors to show me. We had dinner really late but the bed time routine went well.
