Back to the valley, the heat, and the family.

I tried to sleep in a bit this morning. I should have gone hiking or something, but didn’t. I picked up some tools at the house for my dad, and brought them to the cottage. Before going home I stopped by to see Debbie for a while. Lots of customers came by while I was there. My drive home was uneventful – I went via Fayetteville and Lewisburg for a little variety and arrived home around 3:30. Luke and I played a bit both inside and outside, and he helped me clean the garage some. Thankfully he went to bed without too much difficulty this evening.

A little Mountain respite.

This morning Luke and I drove up to Brentwood and met my mother at a playground next to the library. He enjoyed watching other kids, climbing on the dinosaurs, swinging, going down the slides, and eating his snack. It was a little warm out but not miserable. Cooler weather is right around the corner. We drove home for lunch and once he went down for his nap I drove up to Monteagle. I went by the cottage, house, bank, and supply house. I called the plumber but had to leave a voicemail. After doing all of that I went to the Goat Market. I chatted with Eric for a while and then went with him to deliver food over to campus. It was nice to do something different. After that I drove over to Tracy City where they were having a classic car cruise in, and walked around there for a little while. The sky started to look interesting, so I headed to the Templeton Library for sunset. That was lovely and calming. I’ve just been relaxing at the cottage since, and will try to go to bed soon.

Roller coaster continues downward.

Luke and I took an early trip up to Franklin for his speech therapy. That went pretty well, I think. After we drove to Spring Hill and spent some time at the playgound on Port Royal Road. There were a number of other kids there and Luke was pretty content to spend a lot of time just watching everybody. He enjoyed his snack, and we went home once it started getting pretty hot. He didn’t really take a nap, so neither did I. After Liz got off work we went to the nature park for a nice walk. He was in a good mood for that, which carried him through to bed time. This evening we did get confirmation from the nanny candidate that she accepted another position, so we are back to square one.

Going forward?

Luke and I pretty much did our regular thing all day. About an hour before she was due to arrive this afternoon, our nanny prospect bailed. Said she was feeling sick. Since we already had reliability concerns with her, she is now out of the running. So we texted the girl from yesterday saying that the job was hers and asking a good time to call to discuss. She said she would talk to her husband this evening and let us know. In the meantime we went to the nature park for a nice walk. After dinner she texted to say that her husband was late getting in and she would be in touch tomorrow. My guess is that she is waiting for another job offer. Luke was a little challenging at bedtime this evening.

Plowing ahead.

I have been in a rather foul mood all day. Luke and I played all morning and he had an early lunch. He napped pretty well and I tried to nap but couldn’t fall asleep. We snacked and played some more after he woke up. Liz got off work a little early so that we could prepare the house in order to interview a potential nanny. She came at 4:30 and was great. We really liked her, but have one other person to interview tomorrow. So hopefully we’ll have somebody within 24 hours. Of course we got a ton more rain this afternoon. I need to find a good book to read.
