The morning went pretty slowly. Luke and I read and played and it rained a whole lot. He had a very early lunch and nap. My parents came by just as he was waking up. He enjoyed reading lots of books with them. At four I texted the mechanic to see if Liz’s car was ready. At 4:30 I still hadn’t received a response so I called. He said hopefully tomorrow. That kind of throws my plans for tomorrow out of whack. Oh well, it is what it is. After Liz got off work we went to the nature park. It was extremely humid but Luke loved seeing tons of butterflies. We had pasta for dinner and Luke was a little late going to bed. I am now doing more work on my business website.
Another roller coaster day.
This morning Liz took Luke to speech therapy and I took her car to get repaired. I got there at nine and she came to get me a little after 10:30. Luke and I read and played before a late lunch and then nap. I was working on my business website when I got a call from the mechanic saying that he had a couple of things to show me. I drove over and he showed me where unidentified rodents had chewed through a bunch of wiring. He said that I needed to go to the Toyota dealership for replacements and that it would probably take a few day to get them. I did, and they told me that they couldn’t search Lexus parts, and that I needed to get the Lexus part number for them to be able to cross reference. Well, and hour of internet searching yielded nothing and so I finally went back to the counter and told a different guy that I was willing to take a risk and to just sell me the parts for a V6 Highlander. He looked at the parts I had brought in, then went and found me some used one in the back. He said they were from insurance repairs and wouldn’t let me pay for them. I took them back to the mechanic, who was quite impressed, but it turned out that we needed one more. So I returned to Toyota, got another, then dropped it off at the mechanic’s, just as he was closing. I was relieved to have that done, and he said he was still on track to be finished by end of day tomorrow. After dinner this evening I went to Target for some diapers and paper towels but they were out of the latter. Back at home I finished my book on Alexander the Great.
Hot and boring.
Luke is continuing to wake up super early, despite going to bed at a reasonable time. He spent some time outside with Liz this morning before it got too hot. After nap he finger painted on the front porch, then he and Liz made muffins. He sure loves that! This evening I am mostly just reading a book I got on Alexander the Great.
Hot Saturday.
Liz and Luke made muffins this morning, which was a real treat. Next we went to the farmer’s market for bread and a watermelon. We walked over to the school playground and Luke went down one of the slides a whole bunch of times. We were all sweating by the time we returned to the car. We did some chores around the house and Luke took a nice nap. He has been eating lunch at 11:30 and napping at noon. I spent a bit of time working on my business website and preparing the advertisements for the house to print and post online. After Luke went to bed I went to Kroger. I bought a massive amount of food, but the experience wasn’t too bad, as there weren’t many other shoppers in the store.
Finally Friday.
Luke and I played some more. I calculated that the lumber for this next house will cost at least $6000 more than it would have last summer. That pretty much set the mood for the day.
