Cooler, wetter weather.

We are still having a great time. I got up fairly early this morning to take some pictures. It was nice and cool out after last night’s storms. Soon after we brought Luke out to look at the moon, which he loved, as usual. Liz didn’t work today except for a brief afternoon meeting, so we had a lot of time to do stuff. We all rode in the truck to the back of the property, then walked to he big pond. Luke was thrilled to see two turtles. It was a scouting trip to determine where a platform will be built.

Before lunch John and I went to get some fresh strawberries from an Amish lady on the other side of town. They were a big hit with Luke. During his nap I did some work on the next house design and materials lists. After he woke up we played with a train, then went outside to pick up sticks and ride the dump truck. It had stormed between lunch and play time. He ate a ton of strawberries at dinner and did not want to go to bed.

Cramming everything into a hot day.

We got an early start this morning when we went outside to see the moon. After breakfast Luke and Becky made banana bread, we played a lot, worked a little bit, and he ate snack without his tray. I mulched the flower beds while Luke napped. This afternoon he picked up more sticks and rode around on the tricycle. Storms rolled in this evening. Liz and I went to Meijer tonight after Luke went to bed. It is probably my favorite grocery store. I will try to return soon without Liz in order to get more goodies.

More fun on the farm.

It was a pretty busy day with lots of projects getting done. We moved wood, mulched, and Luke got his first ride in the little Cushman farm cart. It was pretty warm today and will be hotter tomorrow. We had pizza for dinner and it was delicious.

Action packed day.

This morning we went for a drive in the truck towards the back of the property, then walked around one of the ponds. Luke loved both riding in the back of the truck and the hike. We had lunch and then naps. Afterwards we went for another drive around the farm in the pickup. The weather was lovely and the air fresh. A great respite from all the craziness in the world right now.

In Michigan.

We left the house at 7:32 yesterday evening and arrived at Liz’s parents’ at 6:22 this morning. So under ten hours of driving, which is surely a record for us. We stopped once for gas and twice to stretch our legs. Luke didn’t sleep as much as I would have liked, but overall he did well. I slept from about eight to noon this morning. Liz and Luke slept a lot this afternoon while John and I drove around a bit. We had dinner and then Luke very reluctantly went to bed. John and I drove around some more as it stayed light until after ten.
