Luke is still doing a little unassisted walking, but he is really racing around the house pushing his little “walker”. I took several videos of him this morning. We had a nice treat when Melissa, Luke’s first nanny, and her husband Steve came by for lunch. We had a great time with them, and they enjoyed seeing Luke, who was happy to show off all of his tricks.
Walk, classic cars, grandparents, planting, and more walking.
We started off with a nice walk along the greenway this morning. We didn’t exactly beat the heat, but it was tolerable. At the farmer’s market midway through our walk Liz got a loaf of bread. Next we drove downtown to see the monthly “Cars and Coffee” event. There were some pretty cool cars out, but it was blazing hot at this point, so we didn’t stay long.
I took a load of trash to the dump, then attached my new disk implement to the tractor. I was able to use it briefly before my parents arrived. They brought Luke a t-shirt and beach ball, the latter of which he had a lot of fun with once he figured out what to do with it. He also showed off his rapidly improving walking skills.
After my parents left I returned to the fields. It was unbearably hot, but I needed to get the planting done. I ran over the rows with the disc. It did a mediocre job, no surprise given its rough condition. Refurbishing it will be a winter project. I planted all of our pumpkin/squash and watermelon seeds. I did have some plowed area remaining, probably because I spaced many of the seeds more closely together than I should have. I’m not sure how these will grow, but it will be neat to watch them.
I returned inside thoroughly overheated and showered before Luke finished his nap. We played a bit and then had a FaceTime chat with Liz’s parents before dinner. I was preparing dinner when I saw the buck deer pictured below in the back field.
This evening we had some serious rain, which I hope will be good for the pumpkins, if it didn’t wash them all down to Alabama.
My new favorite made-up holiday.
That would be Amazon Prime day. It was Monday and Tuesday. Our bounty included a Roomba, power tools, and other odds and ends. Most of it was delivered today. Luke was happier than anybody, as he suddenly had tons of boxes to play with. I set up the Roomba, but didn’t run it yet. Hopefully tomorrow. It was another very hot day.
Steps!
I spent most of the day in Monteagle and drove through rain storms to get home this afternoon. I went a way that was partially new to me. It was good to see Luke and Liz. The big news is that Luke can kind of walk on his own. He can take 4-5 steps. Hopefully I can get a video of it tomorrow.
Rainy, moonless day.
When my alarm went off at 4:45 this morning I looked outside and saw that it was pouring rain. So I went back to sleep. If I could have slept all day I would have. Instead I did a lot of work on the computer, followed by some pleasure reading (Clive Cussler) this evening.
