Rockin’.

It was nice and sunny today, but the ground was still pretty wet. I did move some dirt around, but I’ll wait until Wednesday to finish up so that it’ll be a bit more dry. I moved the last stack of wood that was out of place to a proper place, mowed some high grass, and pretty much finished up the backyard organizing for the time being. The trailers need to be moved to an out of the way spot, but other than that it is looking good.

I got some big rocks from the pile and lined a path off the deck stairs. Then I filled it with gravel. This serves dual purposes of combating muddy shoes and meeting a code requirement for the final county inspection. I now need to do the same in front of the front porch steps. I brought railroad ties to the garage door, and will use them to line the little spur between the main drive and garage. That area will also be filled in with gravel.

Another visit.

It was another pretty, although cooler, day out here in the country. I finished installing the safety latches on the kitchen cabinet doors. I wanted to get on the tractor and move some dirt, but it seemed too wet. So instead I read a lot and watched the latest episode of Hawaii Five-0. This afternoon our friends came by with their four month old son. They live out of town and so we hadn’t seen them in ages. This was their first time to see Luke. It was a very nice visit, but did throw of his nap schedule a little bit. I didn’t prepare a slow cooker meal today because we had plenty of leftovers built up. I do have a nice dish planned for tomorrow though.

A market and a visit.

We went on a walk and to the farmers market before breakfast this morning. The market wasn’t too impressive – only a handful of vendors. They didn’t have much stuff, probably because it is still early. It was still nice to speak with the vendors though. Later in the morning my parents came down for a visit. Luke was happy to see them and showed off his flops. They stayed for lunch, a butternut squash dish that I prepared in the slow cooker this morning. It was okay, but not great. This afternoon I installed safety latches on the kitchen cabinet doors so Little Man is kept out. The rain kept me from working outside.

Not as productive a day.

I had to run errands in town this morning. When I returned Rickey still hadn’t arrived. He actually never came, but did send a text around noon saying that he would come Monday to finish up. I prepared another meal in the slow cooker (beans and rice), and spent the afternoon working in the house. We went on a walk along the greenway early this evening. Not many folks were out.

Luke had a pretty good day. Lots of flopping. He ate some vegetables with his fingers.

A little more painting, a little more rain.

The fantastic progress continues. I had to run up to Franklin this morning, but Rickey got a lot done in my absence. Upon my return we cut down a tree at the end of the driveway. It was pretty ugly, and my neighbor really wanted it gone. It was pretty much on the boundary line between our properties. But now it is no more. I hauled it up to the burn pile. Rickey sprayed something of a second coat on the house and started scraping windows. He should finish that tomorrow morning. Seeing the painted siding and scraped windows is pretty cool. The house is finally getting a finished look. I moved a lot more dirt and am close to being rid of the big dirt pile. Soon I need to plant grass seed all around the house. No pictures today because I was too busy working.
