This morning I went to the county and they told me that I can get a temporary occupancy permit. The major hurdle is that we need our final electrical inspection first and I don’t know when that will happen. There are also a bunch of little things I need to do. The weather is finally decent today, sunny and relatively warm. Tomorrow brings rain, then the following days cold temperatures. I am still really struggling with motivation issues. I didn’t get much else done today besides fixing the out of place cabinet and buying sheetrock for the garage. Tomorrow I will try to install the sheetrock although it will be a challenge given the height of the garage ceiling. This evening I will go to Home Depot in Spring Hill, then try to eat a healthy dinner somewhere.
Back in the valley, still cold.
Well, the blood moon eclipse last night was pretty cool. I stepped out in the back deck several times to see it. Unfortunately I was too lazy to get my camera from the car and take pictures. I did snap one with my phone, shown below. Yes, that’s the moon in the middle of the frame, looking like a speck of dust. I definitely hope to photograph the next one though, because it looked awesome.
I think I missed a great sunrise this morning, but lacked the energy to get out of bed at the crack. After cleaning up and packing I hit the road. I went the back way and avoided all towns of any size. I worked around the house and ran errands for the rest of the day.
Bitter cold, vanishing moon.
I just stepped out on the back deck at the cottage. The moon is in the process of being eclipsed. It is a cool sight, but one that I did not enjoy for long as it is bitterly cold. I might return in a half hour or so to capture totality with my camera.
It was a pretty low key day. There was a dusting of snow on the ground this morning but not enough to be memorable. I drove around a little just to see what was happening. Not much it seems. The goats were not out. I did take advantage of the campus internet and watched the latest episode of The Blacklist. So far the new season is pretty good. I also resumed reading the Bob Lee Swagger books, number eight if I’m not mistaken, on my phone, courtesy of the Nashville Public Library. It is also good, and I hope to finish it tonight, even if it keeps me up until the wee hours.
This week should be very productive even though it’s supposed to be quite cold. The house is pretty close to being finished and I just need to focus and grind through some tedious tasks.
Prepare the Ark.
There were epic rains last night and today. The ground all around the house is a real mess. I don’t know when it will dry out. It is going to be pretty difficult to grade around the house. Now I’m in Monteagle and it’s still really wet. Maybe the rain will turn to snow later tonight. It’s supposed to be very cold tomorrow.
Powered up.
The electric company folks came this morning. They cut off the power so they could hook up. I couldn’t do anything without electricity so I ran some errands in town. They were gone when I returned after lunch. I worked on several small things and the electrician came and did some stuff. Unfortunately a number of issues revealed themselves and will need to be sorted. The HVAC guy also came and programmed the thermostat. So now it is 60 degrees inside. I went to Home Depot to pick up a couple of things this evening and had dinner at Moe’s. Now I’m enjoying the comfort of the house. It’s supposed to storm tonight and tomorrow.
