Errand day.
I spent the morning doing work on the computer and paying bills. This afternoon I went by Southeastern Salvage to look at counter tops and then visited the county clerk’s office to pick up the tag for Liz’s new car. That was a horrible experience. Lastly I had dinner with a couple of friends I knew in Morocco. We ate at the marina at Percy Priest Lake.
Sheetrock and siding.
We are remarkably close to finishing hanging the drywall. I has really hoped that we would finish today, but alas, it was not meant to be. We made admirable progress though. Al that remains is a little green board in the master bath and a little standard sheetrock in the master bedroom. I also put up the shiplap in the master bath today. My dad has done a great job of mudding the drywall. It is really starting to take shape. Today I picked up the last of our siding that I had ordered. Hopefully we will have clear weather next week and can finish installing it. That would be a huge relief. I also did some cleaning and organizing around the house. Tomorrow I will be up in Nashville all day, and won’t be back in Columbia until Saturday.
(Sheet)rock and roll, landfill woes.
We got going pretty early again this morning, and hung sheetrock until we ran out of screws. Then I unloaded the bounty from last night at Liz’s office and reloaded the uhaul trailer with construction debris. I drove to the landfill but they said I couldn’t dump there because some of my waste was “blowable”. The lady sent me to the county transfer station. I arrived at 12:05 and they were on lunch break until 12:30. Then I got in line and waited over an hour to empty the trailer. That pleasure cost me $27.33. But it did feel nice to get all that trash off the job site. I returned the trailer without incident, picked up my trailer, and went to Home Depot. There I bought screws, drywall mud, and more sheetrock. We hung a lot of it when I returned. We should finish with it tomorrow, both the regular and the green board. I also hope to finish the shiplap and reclaimed siding accent walls. That would be a good day. The weather was nice again today and it shouldn’t be as cold tonight.
Christmas in October and more drywall.
We got an early start and knocked out most of the drywall in the living room. All of the can lights made the ceiling fairly tedious. We went into town for lunch and a couple of errands. I left the farm about 3:30 to go rent a uhaul trailer and then head to Liz’s office. They are closing it and a lot of stuff was up for grabs. We got some pretty nice things. Right now they are still in the trailer, but I will put them in the house tomorrow. Also tomorrow I hope to finish all of the drywall in the house. It won’t be easy but I think it’s possible. It’s chilly again tonight but the full moon is neat.
